    First Safari Guide for Families

You do not need safari knowledge to plan well. Your host will guide your family through dates, routes, rooming, and pace, so the first safari feels clear, calm, and enjoyable for children and grandparents.

You’re not the only one wondering

Most first-time families ask the same questions. This page answers the basics in plain language.

    • Hosted airport meet-and-greet and clear handovers.

    • Vetted drivers and trusted camps selected for comfort and service.

    • Your family knows who is meeting you, when, and where.

Will the pace suit children and grandparents?

    • Two–three nights per location.

    • One transition per day maximum.

    • Time built in for rest.

    • Late mornings when preferred.

What if this is truly a first safari for your family?

    • Your host explains terms and options in plain language.

    • Your family receives a simple route recommendation and a clear plan.

    • The goal is confidence, not expertise.

What a Day on Safari Feels Like

The rhythm is simple and human. It is designed to support energy across ages.

    Early morning

    • Tea or coffee, then a morning drive timed to your family’s energy.

    • Shorter drives are easy to plan for younger children.

    Mid-morning

    • Breakfast, showers, and a slow reset.

    • Rest is part of the plan.

    Midday

    • Reading, swimming where available, and downtime.

    • Time built in for rest.

    Afternoon

    • Afternoon drive or a guided walk where suitable.

    • Private vehicle and flexible drive times.

    Evening

    • Dinner, soft conversation, early nights when preferred.

    • Most families sleep earlier than expected after a full day outside.
How your host supports first-time families

How your host supports first-time families

A first safari should feel guided and predictable, with simple choices and clear timing.

    Before you book

    • A calm consultation to understand who is travelling and what matters most.

    • One or two journey recommendations, with a clear proposal.

    • Rooming needs discussed early, including connected rooms and family suites where available.

    Before you travel

    • Support with flights into Kenya, health and visa guidance in plain language.

    • A simple outline of each travel day, so your family knows what to expect.

    • Packing guidance that fits children and luggage limits.

    While you’re here

    • On-ground support and trusted partners in each region.

    • If something needs to change, your host handles logistics in the background.

    • The day pace stays steady.

    Questions first-time families often ask

There is no single perfect month. Your host recommends dates based on school calendars, your comfort preferences, and how much privacy your family wants in camps and sightings.

Yes. Camp and conservancy choices can support a quieter feel, with flexible timing and fewer high-traffic moments

Yes. Vehicle time, rooming, and pacing are adjusted to the ages and energy levels in your group.

Most families feel well held in 7–10 nights, with two contrasting areas and two–three nights per location.

Dietary needs are shared ahead of time with each camp and lodge, and your host double-checks that they’re understood. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other needs are commonly accommodated.

A clear first step is enough

A clear first step is required. Share who is travelling, your rough dates, and what kind of together time matters most, rest, learning, wildlife, or celebration. Your host will respond with one clear recommendation and a steady plan to match.
